Partner with AmeriCorps

AmeriCorps is more than a service program, it’s a network that engages the private sector, foundations, and higher education institutions in a number of strategic partnerships. For more than 30 years, AmeriCorps has been connecting organizations and individuals who are committed to improving lives, strengthening communities, and fostering civic engagement.

Is your organization dedicated to strengthening your community? If so, AmeriCorps is here to help with people power and funding.

How it Works

The federal AmeriCorps agency, also known as the Corporation for National and Community Service, offers millions of dollars in AmeriCorps grants annually. State Commissions, including the New York State Commission on National and Community Service, accept applications from eligible organizations, make funding recommendations to AmeriCorps, and manage awarded grants. The New York State Commission on National and Community Service typically offers two funding opportunities each year for organizations that intend to operate an AmeriCorps program solely within New York State; one in the fall and the other in the spring. Other funding opportunities may be announced as funding becomes availalbe.

AmeriCorps funding may be used to pay for program expenses such as personnel and fringe, staff and member travel, staff and member training, supplies, equipment, member Living Allowances, member support costs, and other costs allowable per 2 CFR Part 200 Subpart E. Organizations may also apply for planning grants to fund their efforts to develop an AmeriCorps program.

Organizations throughout New York State operate AmeriCorps New York programs to serve their communities. Individuals who enroll in AmeriCorps New York agree to serve a specific term with a minimum hourly requirement. While organizations are able to increase their capacities and boost their impact, members usually receive a Living Allowance along with other benefits, depending on their program’s design. AmeriCorps members who successfully complete their terms also earn a Segal Education Award that can be used to pay for higher education expenses, including tuition and federally qualified student loans.
